His Wicked Games by Ember Casey

At what point is it considered erotica?

At first I thought this was going to be like all the other erotica books I've read, but this one was a little different. This rating was more because it made me think a little, but it also made me smile and had my heart beating faster, due to anticipation.

Calder's character is, yes, egotistical; but there's also another side to him and you get tiny glimpses of it as the story unfolds. Calder is also a very proud man and doesn't want anyone to see him as weak whether that is in perception or reality.

Lilly is trying to build herself back up after a bad relationship with Garrett, but is she being honest with herself. She's trying to gain money for her family's center, but is that what she's really doing?

I like the fact that Calder and Lilly don't just fall into bed together and I liked the fact that Lilly thought she would be able to control the games they played. It would have been more fun if she actually could have, but does anyone really lose those games when both parties are willing to play? :)

It would have been nice if Calder had to play the hero, but hey I'm a sucker for a knight in shining armor...

Yes this had a few great steamy scenes in it, but I wouldn't really call it erotica....

Turned by Morgan Rice

The story grabbed me right off the bat. I think because most of us can relate to the feeling of the nervousness of being the new kid in school.

I liked the fact that Caitlyn didn't know anything about what she was, and that she was somewhat intimidated by her new school in NY. The love that she has for her brother Sam is evident and I know that she just wants to be happy.

Getting kidnapped and then saved by Caleb feels like her saving grace, but is that real? What is going on with her life now and can she really be half vampire?

Caleb believes in her, but I can't help but wonder if there is someone else that is a part of this story. And can't wait to find out.

This is a great YA book, it's been a long time sense I've read one and this was a great come back for me..

New Beginnings and shifters, it seems that's what they're good at...

This book is by Brandi L. Rivers.

I'm not to sure what to say, this was the typical shifter story. An alpha looking for a mate, or not; and a female that doesn't wish to bend. I guess I'm getting too cynical because a few years ago I would have thought this a great book.

I liked the dynamic of the story, I just didn't find the interactions of the characters to be very in depth. Even the love scenes were bland. I'm not an expert, but I would think that if an alpha kept getting hot then cold, wanting you then not, and doors being slammed in his face he wouldn't be that patient.

I think this is a good book to start out on, especially before reading some of the other shifter and vampire books I've read.

Eternal Breath of Darkness by Candice Stauffer

A journey taken by a demon to atone his mistakes...

Four stars because of how the story was told. Following Hayden as he tries to win the love and trust of his mate, Caylee, while her best friend, Mia, protects her viciously.

I liked that this story had a lot of twists and turns. Four woman as close as sisters and a few have certain abilities; this fact is what will make the next book a little more interesting. Mia doesn't know it yet but instead of having just one man after her, she will have two; and they are both Alpha's in there own right.

Because of the way Hayden courted Caylee, she finally learns to trust what she has with Hayden. But will the vampire, Paul, that is obsessed with Caylee win in the end or will Hayden be able to save her? In order for Hayden to save Caylee, his love for her must be stronger than his natural instincts.

Having a new twist on demons and the characters that are portrayed in this book is what drew my attention; the subtle way the other characters were given life, the pain and fear that I could feel from Caylee, and the cliffhanger ending is what kept me reading.

If you're looking for a good read involving alpha males and strong women needing to overcome their pasts to find eternal love, than this book is for you.

Skinwalkers: Bad Moon Rising (SO KEWL)

This is the first time that I've read anything by Lorraine Kennedy, and  with Skinwalkers I'm presently surprised.

In this book, the paranormal is based on Native American lore; the Navajo to be exact. This is the second book I've read with a Native American slant, and I'm finding that I enjoy the mystical edge that it gives the story.

Mya wants to become a policewoman and goes to Arizona to spend the
summer with her uncle Donny to gain practical experience. When the killing started, her uncle started telling her about Skinwalkers, Sinapo, and Dineh; all connected to the Navajo reservation.

Mya is having a hard time handling her uncle not giving her straight answers to her questions. When Donny says anything to Mya about the murders or about her own life, it always seems to revolve around their small town and the legends of the Navajo.

Knowing that her life is about to change in a dramatic way, Mya wants to get information from David. David is mysterious and illusive, and somehow connected to the legends as well. However, David keeps giving her the run around too. Mya is confused about a lot of things, but
she knows that David is connected to her and whatever is going on with the murders.

Mya's confusion about who she is, what she has to do with the murders, and her connection with David is starting to get to her, and with what Trent has told her, she is starting to think she may finally get some answers.

David knows exactly who Mya is and what she means for him; and he knows that staying away from her is going to be impossible. He has a sacred duty that he must uphold or the people will suffer. But sense Mya is more like her mother, does that change the prophecy?

Mya is supposed to be killed, but will David allow that to happen regardless of what the prophecy says?

I enjoyed the way this story was told. They're quite a few twists that are well placed within the story to create shock, anger and an undying love. I only noticed one or two typos. Other than that, the book was great.

If you like the paranormal and Native American lore, then you will enjoy this book a great deal. Lorraine, you've done a great job.

Vampires and Werewolves, Oh My... Bound to Night by Nina Croft

I luv it when I can give a book five stars. This book started out from the very beginning to have intrigue. People being kidnapped, a child being changed to a lycan and thrown into a locked facility to be studied, a very old and powerful vamp going in to gather Intel. Do you see how exciting it is and that's just the beginning. The story hooks you from the beginning and you don't want to put it down.

Jack is the vampire and the minute he sees Tasha, somewhere deep inside he know that she is different. He wants to protect her, make sure she never feels alone and scared again and is never hurt by anyone again. But he also knows that he's got a job to do.

Tasha is scared and distrustful of everyone, but the moment she meets Jack she knows that he is different, that he's special. The first time that she feels Jack feed from her she knows that she can't let her captors know that she wants to feed Jack, that she enjoys Jack's touch.

They've told Tasha that she's a werewolf, but she hasn't changed, Jack knows why but hasn't told her and she becomes extremely glad of that fact the night of the full moon. When Tasha's captors try to make her change, she is hurting so much that she calls out for Jack.

Will Jack endanger his mission to save Tasha? And can Tasha really have a lover that's a vamp?

These are my second favorite kind of books, and if you like lycans and vamps as much as I do, then pick this one up. Even though it's a novella it's worth the read

A Different view on the Gods and Goddesses....

Five * changed to Four*

This rating was given because of the unique way this story was written. The his and goddesses are actually here on earth and they still have their own mountain. The story is well thought out, written and expressed.

I liked our heroine Skye because of her core of steal. Skye is strong of character, spirit and heart. The trials that Skye has too endure through this book elicits a wide range of feelings from you. I mean she wakes up on the bank of a river wet and hurting. To top that off she can't remember a thing about herself. Then while working to compensate for staying on Mary's ranch she finds out that their is more too the people that are helping her than she ever though possible. The only real criticism I have, is that the sadness that is described when Skye can't feel anymore and she leaves the man she loves is not powerful enough. I felt like I should have shed at least one tear in that scene. The scene was very emotional and heart felt, I could feel myself getting drawn into it but the scene just never fully materialized for me.

Aiden is very powerful, and that power shows wherever he goes. He has the strength of Hercules and I would imagine that type of power radiates off of him. Aiden has done a lot of things in his very long life, all in the name of the greater good. However, some of those actions have left serious scares on his soul. He has sworn that he will no longer let someone else dictate what he should do and when; but when Skye walks into his life, he knows that his life is about to change dramatically. I wish that in the prologue when giving the background of his life, that the intensity would have followed into the book when he is explaining that part of his life to Skye. This is another powerful scene and I just feel that it could have elicited more feeling from me.
If you enjoy reading about the god/desses, you will enjoy this. It doesn't go by any of the pantheons and it doesn't mention any of the old god/desses, however, it is a fresh way to view them.

P.S. I have to change my five star to a four. With the criticism about the scenes and not being as powerful as they should be, I just don't feel right about giving this a perfect score.
